With its rarely beautiful architecture, the house of the Municipal History Museum is one of the most impressive buildings in the town of Gotse Delchev. The house was built in 1877 in the style of “Bulgarian Baroque”. Typical are wood-carved ceilings and doors made by local masters – carvers.
The Historical Museum has 12 exhibition halls, a lapidarium and a courtyard. There is an archeological exposition, where 1500 museum units are kept, mostly Thracian.
The ethnographic exposition acquaints visitors with the way of life of the population of the city and the region and has over 2500 museum units. The halls of the museum present exhibitions and educational programs for students and adults on important anniversaries and celebrations for historical figures and events related to local and national history.
